Alan Tarbell

Alan Tarbell is a mixed media painter and installation artist. Often incorporating natural materials in his work he looks for expansive avenues to essentially weave or blur the lines between painting and structure. A deep connection to the natural environment and our vital human relationships are both integral elements to his conceptual approach. His underlying message is to resonant visually a cross-cultural compassion and our intrinsic association with our planet. His work has been widely reviewed in Mexico where he has lived since 2002.

Alan's art work has been exhibited in galleries in Toluca, Queretaro and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Oakland, CA. World travels and concurrent work as a travel guidebook author and illustrator for Lonely Planet Publications, publishing titles on: México (2006), Hawaii, the Big Island (2005), Indonesia (2003), and Ecuador (2001), have further inspired his work.

Alan Tarbell received a BA in Geography with a minor Geology from the University of California at Davis in 1997. In 2005 he received his MFA from the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where he has been a bilingual professor for four years.

He currently splits his time teaching and working between the SF Bay Area and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. His work is held by numerous private collectors in Mexico and the US.
