The Riviera is the coast of Liguria, in North-West Italy, a continuation of the French Riviera. The east part, called Riviera Di Levante is its the most picturesque and rugged. Many of the small towns exhibit huddles of pastel colored houses and charming harbors. While Porto Venere, next to the Cinque Terre, has remained one of the most romantic villages of the Ligurian coast, Portofino, once visited by writers, has become an European playground for the rich and famous, crammed with expensive yachts and luxury stores. Portovenere is part of a
UNESCO World Heritage Site which also include the Cinque Terre and the Islands (Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto).
