Between Lower Manhattan and Midtown Manhattan, there are no notable skyscrappers, but instead a number of neighborhoods with distinct personalities. SoHo used to be the bohemian artist district, but since the 1980s has become a gentrified shopping area. More than 150,000 Chinese-speaking residents make Chinatown the largest Chinese community outside of Asia, one that has been encroaching on Little Italy, where a pocket of eateries remain. |
