Ponce, named after the great Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de Leon, is a city in South Puerto Rico with a rich history. In 1883, Ponce was ravaged by an enormous fire that was threatening to destroy all of Puerto Rico South, but it was saved by its brave firemen after an epic struggle. Their unique fire station has become a museum, while being still active. Ponce nearby cathedral Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe has a distinctively hispanic architecture.
