San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio (population 1.3 million) is the city in Texas where the Tex-Mex heritage remains the most lively, thanks to the 60% of its population with hispanic roots. Originally settled by Spanish colonial missionaries - who have left a large number of mission buildings around, including the famous Alamo, San Antonio has become a major tourist attraction, visited by more than 26 million per year. Basides the Alamo and missions, a few theme parks, the main focus is the River Walk, where people come to party in the innumerable restaurants and bars. The San Antonio Franciscan Missions and the Alamo are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
