Saint John (pop. 4,000) is the most relaxed and less developed of the US Virgin Islands, thanks to preservation of most of its area by
Virgin Islands National Park. Sheep and wild donkeys frequent the twisting road where the speed limit is often 10 mph. Well known for its well-preserved natural beauty and beaches, Saint John attracts affluent tourists, making it the wealthiest and most expensive of the US Virgin Islands, to the point that it has earned the nickname "Beverly Hills of the Caribbean".
