An original ghost town from the late 1800's, in its heyday Body had a population of 10,000, 65 saloons in town, and one murder per day. Bodie stands today in a state of "arrested decay", a term coined by the State of California when they took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park. It is one of the best preserved ghost towns anywhere, with plenty of details of the past's life.
