Pacific Grove, situated between Monterey and Carmel, features one of the most beautiful urban ocean-front drives anywhere. The route takes you from the residential district laden with Victorian homes (Pacific Grove has more of them per capita than any other place in America), to the popular Lovers Point park, to a relatively wild stretch of coast culminating at Asilomar State Beach. The beaches and scenic points are unobstructed because Pacific Grove does not allow development on the waterside of the ocean-front street.
