England is the largest and most populous (85%) of the three Great Britain countries (the two others being Wales, and Scotland), that, together with Northern Ireland make up the United Kingdom. England is loaded with icons of a glorious past era, from the prehistoric sites of Stonehenge and Avebury, the roman baths in Bath, some of the most beautiful gothic cathedrals anywhere, to the London Tower, Tower Bridge, and enduring symbols of royalty. England's green countryside and medieval stone villages contrast with vibrant cities that, like its colossal capital, London, have stayed at the forefront of modernity.
Although I have visited England several times since my teen years, often in conjunction with academic activities in Oxford, in April 2006 I went back to England for one week just to re-photograph with higher standards, traveling by train except for one day where I tried left-side driving to explore the countryside.
