Rafting the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon is one of the great adventures to be experienced in North America. Besides the rapids - which include some of the most legendery whitewater on the continent, you access hidden waterfalls and side canyons accessible only by river, and get to see up close billions of years of geological history along about 200 miles of river. Unlike other adventures, rafting the Grand Canyon is only moderately challenging if you go on a guided trip. I led two such trips as photography workshops, one in May 2014 on oar rafts with Hatch River Expeditions and one in May 2025 on a motorized raft operated by Arizona Raft Adventures. See also
