The Glenn Highway runs mostly East-West, between Glennallen and Anchorage, in Central Alaska. and ends close to the Wrangell Mountains. The section from Palmer to Anchorage is quite developped, on the other hand, the section from Glennallen to Palmer winds on a plateau borded by the Chugach Mountains in the south. The views over the mountains and glaciers are spectacular. The road skirts the Matanuska Glacier, one of most easily accessible glaciers in Alaska. During the first weeks of Septembers, the aspen brighten the slopes of the steep foothills.
