New-York is the financial capital of the world, and Lower Manhattan is New York's financial district, home to Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, the world's largest. Lower Manhattan is connected to Brooklyn by the Brooklyn Bridge, which was also the longest suspension bridge in the world from 1883 to 1903. Castle Clinton was the first U.S. immigration station from 1855 to 1890 (before Ellis Island), and then housed from 1896 to 1941 the New York City aquarium, which was then the city's most popular attraction. It now serves as departure point for the Statue of Liberty.
