Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a 60-foot (18 m) high sculpture carved into Mount Rushmore by Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum between 1927 and 1939. Mount Rushmore features sculptures of the heads of four United States presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The main goal of promoting tourism in South Dakota has been successful, as Mount Rushmore National Memorial is visited by nearly three million people each year.
