The rest of the island of Tuitula, outside of Pago Pago, lives at a more rural and typically Polynesian pace. Of the several fine beaches, a small one on Fagatele Bay gives access to the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa. Historical and archaeological sites include ancient grinding stone holes (foaga).
