The Na Pali Coast is a rugged stretch of road-less coast on the North Shore of Kauai. True to its name, Na Pali ( which means "cliffs" in Hawaiian language) the Na Pali Coast has the grandest fluted coastal cliffs in Hawaii. A glimpse of the coast can be had from both ends, at Kee Beach and Polihale Beach. Deep river valleys used to contain settlements. The largest of them, Kalalau Valley, can be seen from an overlook from the mountains high above, that offer one of the most spectacular views in the Pacific. Kalalau Valley is also the terminus of the world-class Kalalau trail. Besides that trail, the only ways to see the length of the Na Pali coast are by boat or helicopter.
