Phu Quoc Island is located in the Gulf of Thailand, 71 miles (115 km) from Rach Gia. The largest island in Vietnam, Phu Quoc is 31 mi (50 km) long and 16 mi (25 km) wide. Phu Quoc Island is famous through Vietnam for its fish sauce, produced from the rich fishing anchovy grounds offshore. The beaches of Phu Quoc Island, many of them still free of modern development, are an increasingly popular tourist destination.
