The Pont du Gard is an exceptionally well-preserved aqueduct built two thousand years ago to cross the Gard River and bring water over 50 kms of canals from Uzes to Nimes. The Roman architects and engineers who designed the Pont du Gard, which stands almost 50 m high on three levels, and is 275 m long, created a technical as well as an artistic masterpiece. The Pont du Gard is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
