Xidi is a traditional village in south Anhui Province, surrounded by mountains and built along and between three streams running east-west. The overall layout and architecture of Xidi retain the original features of traditional non-urban settlements of China created during a feudal period. Although now a well-developped tourist attraction with shops, restaurants, and hotels, Xidi village has retained its character and residents still cultivate fields nearby. Xidi is one of two Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui forming a
UNESCO World Heritage Site.
