Saratoga, located on the Western edge of the Silicon Valley, is a upscale city with a suburban small-town feel, wineries, and high-end boutiques. Saratoga emphasizes its semi-rural appearance by foregoing street lights and sidewalks on most residential streets, but in fact Saratoga was the most expensive suburb in California in 2010. Attractions in Saratoga includes Villa Montalvo, an Italian Mediterranean style mansion, and Hakone Gardens, the oldest Japanese-style residential garden in the Western Hemisphere.
