The first National park in the world was originally designated to protect Old Faithfull, and other thermal wonders including the majority of the earth's geyers, but its vast size also includes mountain ranges, lakes, waterfalls, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and made it the only place in the continental United States where every species of native large mammal, including the last free-ranging bison herd, survives today.
