Diamond Head is a crater formed by a steam explosion beneath the surface. A steep trail, that reuses part of the network of tunnels and bunkers built in the first half of the century, leads to a panoramic view. Because of the heat during the day and limited parking space, it is best to start as early as possible. Maunalua Bay, further east, is a great place to watch in the afternoon clubs and schools paddle on the modern version of the typically Hawaiian outrigger canoe.
