This series is part of a sustained look at the diversity of the natural environment within the
US National Parks, where besides expansive landscapes extending to the horizon, I've photographed more intimate scenes and nature close-ups. Illustrating how a very small view can tell a complete story, it looks at the microscopic world of sand grains, using portable field equipment innovatively put together from off-the-shelf components.
