Antelope Valley consists of northern Los Angeles County and the southern portion of Kern County, California. It lies in the Mojave Desert, north of the San Gabriel Mountains. The valley is s one of the best places for finding spring wildflowers. In April, some of the densest displays of bright orange California Poppies (Eschscholzia California) blanket the low hills of the California Poppy Preserve near Lancaster. Depending on the year, some other locations in the valley can have better flower displays than the Preserve.
