Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument ranges from lower elevation areas along the desert floor, with oasis fed by year-round streams nested in rocky canyons, to the top of San Jacinto Peak, which culminates at 10,834 feet. San Jacinto Peak is one of the most topographically prominent mountains in the continental U.S., and its north face rises abruptly 10,000 feet in 7 miles. The higher elevation areas of Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument are accessible via the Palms to Pines highway and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
