Castle Mountains National Monument, surrounded on three sides by the Mojave National Preserve, is maybe the most undevelopped parkland in California. Castle Mountains National Monumen protects possibly the finest grasslands in the Mojave Desert, and one of its densest collection of Joshua Trees. Castle Mountains National Monument offers fine views of the striking Castle Peaks to the east and includes most of the namesake Castle Mountains, a range that culmunates at around 5,550 feet.
