Salvation Mountain is a man-made hill single-handedly built over 28 years by Leonard Knight as a tribute to God and its message of love. He used half a million gallons of donated paint to create a vivid patchwork of 50 feet high and 150 wide that ranks as one of the greatest folk artworks in America. Salvation Mountain is located in the Imperial Valley just east of Salton Sea, and marks the entrace of Slab City.
